Letter from the Director:

2006-2007 has been an interesting time for this Institution. Over this period our growing research and educational programmes have been considerably strengthened by the expanded lab facilities and the addition of the new research ship. The new name adopted in 2006 is reflective of our growth and development as an international institute of ocean science research and teaching. And now the highly anticipated launch of the web site redesign is following in this tide of change and transformation.

Our goal in replacing the BIOS site has been to make it easier to navigate, expand its capacity as an interactive site for our visitors and scientific collaborators and engaging for our students, members, faculty and staff to use. As with our current publication Meridian we hope that this site will inform you of everything happening within the BIOS community and aid sharing our cutting-edge research knowledge internationally.

Thank you for your interest in BIOS and I hope you enjoy the new site, still a work in progress. Please continue to look for new exciting changes as they become visible.
