Andreas (PI of BEACON) is an Adjunct Scientist at BIOS and an Associate Professor in the Geosciences Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Hawaii in 2006 and joined BIOS the following year. Andreas' research interests focus on global environmental change owing to both natural and anthropogenic processes on different time scales. In particular, his research has focused on the effects of rising CO2 and ocean acidification on biogeochemical processes (e.g., calcification and CaCO3 dissolution), marine organisms, and ecosystems in coastal environments. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen publications related to ocean acidification.
