Matt works on the Environmental Quality Program and Air Quality Program at BIOS, where his role involves routine monitoring of Bermuda’s air quality with an aim of reducing the exposure of harmful airborne substances. Matt also undertakes work at the Tudor Hill Marine Atmospheric Observatory where he collects meteorological data, ozone concentration data, and weekly aerosol samples.

Matt graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BSc in Meteorology and Oceanography, and he is particularly interested in physical oceanography and drivers in global climate change. Prior to his time at BIOS, Matt worked as a MetOcean Scientist for an oil and gas consultancy undertaking preliminary meteorological and oceanographic surveys for engineering purposes. Matt wanted to move away from working in the oil and gas industry and return to “real science” where his enjoyment of field work allows him to contribute to various important environmental monitoring programs at BIOS.
