An Evening at the Hamilton Princess

Atlantic Explorer

The BIOS-operated vessel Atlantic Explorer docked at the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club on September 22 for a special evening that included ship tours, mingling on the dock with BIOS researchers, and the opportunity to view a television program that features BIOS’s internationally recognized work on climate change research.

Thanks to the Hamilton Princess which co-sponsored the event, BIOS was able to showcase its sea-going capabilities and the recent PBS TV episode Changing Seas: The Fate of Carbon, which features BIOS scientists working on the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS). Since 1988, BATS researchers have collected data on the physical, biological, and chemical properties of the ocean to learn more about the role of carbon, and the ocean, in Earth’s changing climate.
