Opportunity:
A special opportunity exists for students from developing countries to visit the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences to study Microbial Oceanography. These scholarships are made available by The Agouron Institute (see NOTE).
Eligibility:
Students from developing countries enrolled in colleges/universities with an interest in microbial oceanography.
Scholarships:
Scholarships are available to cover costs associated with the course in Microbial Oceanography. Scholarships can be requested in amounts up to the full cost of the course. Note: Course costs include room, board and tuition, and are listed on the Microbial Oceanography course page. Funds can also be requested to cover travel expenses.
Application Process:
Students must apply for and be admitted into Microbial Oceanography. The application form is available on the BIOS Summer Course page. Please be sure to indicate on the application form that you wish to apply for a scholarship from the Agouron Institute. This statement should be included on the application form under the heading of "Statement of Needs and Qualifications".
Notification:
Students are generally notified of their status starting in early April. Please contact the Admissions Officer if you have not received word by 15 April.

NOTE: Scholarships are also available for students from developing countries to take the summer course in Coral Reef Ecology. The special opportunity listed above does not replace other scholarships. If you are a student from a developing country who wishes to take Coral Reef Ecology, please follow the general outline listed above in the "Application Process", but do not mention The Agouron Institute in your application.
