What to Bring to BIOS

Travel Documents:

  • Return airline ticket
  • Proof of citizenship (For US/Canada citizens, bring a passport, birth certificate, U.S. voter registration card, OR Canadian certificate of citizenship or landed immigration status).
  • Bermuda visa required for some countries. Please check with BIOS Education Department for this information.
  • Transit visa required for non-U.S./Canadian citizens traveling via the U.S.A.
  • Signed U.S. customs registration forms for easy reentry of foreign cameras, etc. going with you outside the U.S.

Individual Field Trip Gear and other Personal Items:

  • Jeans, shorts and shirts
  • dive card if you plan to use SCUBA*
  • rain jacket or slicker
  • mask, fins and snorkel
  • 2 pairs of sneakers
  • underwater camera/dive light (optional)
  • camera
  • photographic film if required (it's very expensive in Bermuda)
  • 2 bathing suits
  • beach towel
  • knapsack or day-pack for transporting gear
  • sunscreen, hat and cover-ups
  • pocket flashlight (BIOS is not well lit at night)
  • eye glasses (spare pair; no optician near BIOS)
  • Dramamine or motion-sickness patches
  • bathrobe and slippers (for possible shared bathroom facilities)
  • hand calculators (if work requires calculations)
  • personal hygiene needs (toothpaste, shampoo, razors, tampons etc.)
  • pencils, pens, lab and note books

* Diver registration forms available upon request. You cannot dive at BBSR without filling out the proper forms.
