Profile:
Dr. Knap joined BIOS as an Assistant Research Scientist in 1977 and became Director in 1986. His principal research interests are environmental science, organic geochemistry, long-range transport processes and deposition of chemicals in the oceans, atmosphere/ocean interactions, effects of chemicals on the marine environment, and climate change and business interactions, as well as relationships between ocean health and human health. Dr. Knap is an Honorary Professor at the University of Plymouth and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware and NOVA University. He serves with several international organizations and has served as the chairman of the Health of the Ocean Committee for the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS). He is co-chair of the Coastal Ocean Observing Panel for GOOS. Dr. Knap is the author of over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and one book.
