2003 Centennial Celebration Activities

     

January 27
to February 7

JASON Project XIV: From Shore to Sea broadcasted live at BBSR. The international team of scientists and student argonauts  explored the Channel Islands region of California, including the Channel Islands National Park and the waters of the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. JASON XIV marked the 10th anniversary of JASON Project broadcasts in Bermuda.

Dance Recital at Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts in honor of BBSR's centennial

Research Cruise and Plankton Tow for BBSR Sustaining Associates/Corporate Sponsors and above. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Fireworm Cruise - Rescheduled to July 16 due to inclement weather.

Ground-breaking ceremony and special ExxonMobil Centennial Lecture at BBSR by distinguished marine scientist Dr. Sylvia Earle. For Patrons/Corporate Council and above. Ground breaking at 7 p.m.; lecture at 7:30 p.m. with a reception following.

Fireworm Cruise for Centennial Associate Members/Centennial Investors and above. 8 p.m. Rescheduled from June 17.

100th Birthday Open House at BBSR. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.

The First International Coral Reef Ecotoxicology and Health Workshop was held at BBSR

Public Science Symposium at BBSR in Hanson Hall, 9 a.m. to noon.

     

December 9

Atlantis Project Open House at BBSR from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tour the labs, talk to the scientists and learn more about their global studies of the threats to human and environmental health in coastal areas.
